Google must have guided you to this website when you typed in “Dentist Frankston” or something to that effect. Several factors influenced this idea of putting together a website that could give all possible information on dentists, orthodontists, dentistry, and all things toothy! Selecting a good dentist is as important as selecting your life partner! Your dentist plays a very crucial role in the healthy maintenance of your teeth.
I remember the first time I was dragged to a dentist. I was thirteen and had a huge cavity that was causing a lot of pain. He took one look at it and said it has to come out. My mum, being a veteran at having her teeth pulled out, immediately encouraged me saying that in one pull it will be out. So, I reluctantly gave in and he injected an anaesthetic into my gums. I yelled with pain when he yanked out the tooth and just as I thought it was over, he came at me again and again. I know it sounds like a horror story but that’s exactly what happened! Apparently, the tooth had rotted so badly that it could only be pulled out piece by piece and the anaesthetic wasn’t working too well. I ended up grabbing his coat and screaming at him “Stop or I will kill you”!
The same dentist suggested that I get braces to train my Dracula-like incisors back into position. When I asked him why I should do that, he said that “nobody will marry me if my teeth were out of sync”! That decided it, and I stalked out swearing that I will not set my teeth straight just so I could marry a jerk who likes perfect teeth! Dracula will definitely be proud of me for sticking to my resolve.
A decade or so later, I went to another dentist who, along with his assistant, peered thoughtfully into my mouth and said I needed about seven fillings! He casually asked me what toothpaste I used and I proudly named a popular tooth gel, which made them giggle and look at me like they would at an ignorant waif. I was strongly advised to change my tooth paste and to come back for my fillings. I was too embarrassed to back to the same dentist but I did change my toothpaste!
Fast forward a few more years, and I was back in a dentist’s chair to pull out a tooth that was threatening to come out through my left cheek. I braced myself and warned the dentist to anaesthetize me sufficiently as I didn’t want a repeat of my nightmarish first experience. I settled in anxiously and opened my mouth wide and felt a mild prodding by the dentist who kept talking about something or the other to me. He then asked me to rinse my mouth and as I braced myself again for the ordeal, he showed me the perfectly formed tooth he had pulled out! I was amazed that I hadn’t felt even a twinge of pain!
I guess by now you know why I decided to put up Dentist Frankston. The key to healthy teeth is finding a good dentist who not only knows his job but also has pleasant bedside manners! I now visit my dentist quite happily once in six months to keep my teeth in good shape.
